Installing Automation1 on a PC

When you migrate the software for your HyperWire drives to Automation1, you can do one of the options that follow:

  • On a new PC, install Automation1. Keep your old A3200 PC as an alternative.

    • IMPORTANT: This option gives you minimum downtime and minimum risk. It prevents problems that might occur if Automation1 is installed over the existing A3200 configuration on the same PC. It also lets you keep the A3200 PC as a backup installation option.

  • On the PC that uses A3200 6.04, install Automation1 over the existing A3200 configuration.
  1. Make sure that the new PC is Aerotech approved. See Automation1 PC-Based Controller Selection and Setup.
  2. Install an Aerotech HyperWire card into this new PC. See the Install the HyperWire Card page.
  3. Download and install the Automation1-iSMCSetup.exe and Automation1-MDKSetup.exe files. These files are part of the Automation1 software. You can download the Automation1 software from the Software Downloads page of the Aerotech website.

    4. Tip: Make sure that you have your current license keys available. After you download the Automation1-iSMCSetup.exe and Automation1-MDKSetup.exe files, they are located in the Installation folder. See the Install the Software page for more information.

  4. After you install the software, restart the PC.
  5. Configure the Aerotech HyperWire card for Automation1. See the Configure the HyperWire Card page.

    6. Tip: In Device Manager, your HyperWire card might be located at Aerotech Devices > INtime Aerotech HyperWire Adapter.

 

  1. Back up all of your data, which includes:
    • A3200 System Configurations:
      • Active Parameter file
      • Calibration files
      • AeroBasic programs
    • All Other Important Information

    WARNING: Back up all of your data before you start the upgrade process. If you must restore the software to a previous version, this process can overwrite data on your PC and change specified configurations back to the factory default settings.

  2. In the Programs and Features section of the Windows Control Panel, uninstall all the software that follows:
    • The Automation 3200 software
    • The INtime for Windows Runtime software

    IMPORTANT: When you uninstall each program, make sure that you follow all the prompts.

  3. After you uninstall the software programs, restart the PC.
  4. Download and install the Automation1-iSMCSetup.exe and Automation1-MDKSetup.exe files. These files are part of the Automation1 software. You can download the Automation1 software from the Software Downloads page of the Aerotech website.

    5. Tip: Make sure that you have your current license keys available. After you download the Automation1-iSMCSetup.exe and Automation1-MDKSetup.exe files, they are located in the Installation folder. See the Install the Software page for more information.

  5. After you install the software, restart the PC.
  6. Configure the Aerotech HyperWire card for Automation1. See the Configure the HyperWire Card page.

    7. Tip: In Device Manager, your HyperWire card might be located at Aerotech Devices > INtime Aerotech HyperWire Adapter.
